It’s language made easy by the JAS of NJ. We want you to learn at your own pace and have fun in the process. You will learn from our most qualified teachers who are each certified in their native languages. You will always leave class with a smile on your face! Just follow these simple steps and begin mastering the language of your desire!

    10 people per class. Please call for details.

JAPANESE CLASSES

JAS of NJ offers a unique language program designed for native English speakers that wish to become fluent in speaking and writing the Japanese language.  Students will learn Japanese through conversational interactions with our qualified and experienced language instructors who adopt practical modern day materials. Entertaining activities make for enthusiastic, friendly, and above all, relaxed environment.

12-WEEK x 6-SEMESTER BASIC/INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED LEVEL COURSE
The following levels of classes are 72-week long and each level (Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced) is divided into 6 semesters such as Basic I, Basic II, Basic III, Basic IV, Basic V, and Basic VI / Inter I, Inter II, Inter III, Inter IV, Inter V, and Inter VI / Advanced I, Advanced II, Advanced III, Advanced IV, Advanced V, and Advanced VI. Each semester is 12-week long. Course Fee: $360 / semester * The payment is due at the beginning of each semester. If you sign up for the six semesters when registering, you are eligible for 10% discount $1944 ($216 off). Tuition fees are non-refundable.  If you are unable to attend a class, makeup lessons are not available.  JAS of NJ does not provide refunds or class credit.
Admission is on a rolling basis, and students are welcomed to join at any time.
If you join in the middle of the course, we offer private tutoring to help you catch up. The private tutoring lessen fees come at an additional charge. More detailed information for one-on-one tutoring lesson can be found here.

We offer one time try-out when you consider jumping in a class that has already started. You can sit in on a 1.5-hour class with already registered students in order to see how the class fits you. The try-out is $45. Registration is not required until you decided to sign up for the course.

2023-2024 JAPANESE LANGUAGE COURSES

NEW  COURSES:

Summer 2024 Intro Course will begin in July 8 th.  The 4-week introductory course includes reading and writing characters, pronunciation, common phrases in everyday settings for Beginners. The objectives of the course are for students to learn fundamental grammar, sentence structures, and basic communication skills from a native Japanese teacher.  Day & Time: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10:30AM-12:00PM, begins on 7/8 and ends on 7/31.   Course fee: $660 + class material fee $75 (textbook & workbook)  You can download the course application form from here.

Monday Evening Course for Beginners began weeks ago but it’s still available to join. The class meets every Monday evening, 6:00-7:30 PM online.

SATURDAY Advanced I and Advanced V, and SAI(Super Advanced I)  Level Classes, and Monday Evening Basic III Level Class now have openings. 

The Saturday Advanced I Level class meets 9:30-11:00AM, and the SAI Level class meets 11:30AM-1:00PM, Advanced V class meets 1:30-3:00PM every Saturday. The Monday Basic III Level Class meets 8:00PM-9:30PM every Monday.

Thursday Morning Advanced Level Conversation class begins in January 2024. This class is for those who have basics and are looking for more opportunities to speak Japanese in order to improve own conversational skills.

JAPANESE PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS (ONLINE/IN-PERSON LESSONS)

The curriculum of private classes will be tailored to your personal needs, including: general conversation practice, vocabulary development, improvement of grammar, preparation for traveling abroad or any exams such as JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test), writing skills for business letters or research papers, etc. Lesson hours can be scheduled for your convenience, and cancellation or re-scheduling of your regular lesson time is possible with advanced notice.

A one-hour trial Private lesson is available for $55, Semi-Private lesson is available for $35 per person, per hour.
No pre-registration is required for trial lessons. We do not offer a trial lesson through SKYPE.
The lesson-hour credit is not refundable and  transferable after registration.

LESSON SUBJECTS/CONTENTS

We offer Japanese, English, and Korean language classes. The curriculum will be designed for you based on what your needs and prior knowledge. Choose from conversation practice, vocabulary, grammar, conversation for traveling overseas, exam preparation, writing business letters or research papers, or other subjects that interest you. Just let us know what you would like to learn when you register.

LESSON HOURS
Standard hours are Monday~Thursday 9:30am~7pm, Friday and Saturday 9:30am~5pm.
Private and Semi-Private lessons may also be arranged outside the standard hours.

OTHER FEES
Registration is required. Please refer to our membership program page for more information. Choose your type of membership and make your payment at the front desk. Materials (books, handouts, etc) for each class may vary; payment of materials is required on the first day of class.

LESSON CANCELLATION POLICY
For cancellations and re-scheduling please be sure to e-mail the office at least 24 hours in advance. Same-day cancellations are non-refundable. If you have a Monday class be sure to e-mail by 3:00 pm on Sarturday.

- Special package discounts are available when purchasing three or six months  together (After package discounts are applied, no additional tuition fee will be charged even if there happens to be 9 lessons a month).

SPECIAL CLASS SCHEDULES/FEES

♦ 12-Week Intensive English Course

This 12-week intensive course is designed for students who wish to improve their ability to communicate in English and achieve fluency in all areas of English.  Our classes focus on grammar, conversation, listening, pronunciation, and frequently used idioms.  Classes meet three times a week, 180 minutes per class.  Immerse yourself!  It’s the best way to learn English.

♦ NEW SAT Preparation Intensive Course I (Total 24 hrs, 120 min. per class)

This is a comprehensive preparation course for the new SAT. An SAT specialist provides techniques for using correct words and grammar, writing logically, and improving accuracy on  multiple choice questions. The course is targeted towards 10th through 12th graders. We also offer private lessons. For details, please direct inquiries to 201-461-5133.

♦ TOEIC Preparation Intensive Course

This course offers intensive instruction in English aimed at strengthening vocabulary and grammar.  You will also strengthen your listening comprehension by listening to a number of questions read at a conversational rate.  The course teaches writing patterns in business letters and advertisements, which often appear in reading comprehension tests.  Your self-study methods will become effective and you can expect to improve your test score significantly!  *The course is targeted for the TOEIC exam on January 20, 2024.
