Shamisen Demonstration and
Workshop |
On Saturday, November 20th, we
will be hosting a shamisen workshop with Mr. Yukio Koma. The
shamisen is a traditional Japanese stringed instrument that many
associate with geishas and bunraku puppet theater. In more
recent times, the shamisen has found its way back into popular
Japanese music, and even made waves in the USA with renditions
of heavy metal classics. Mr. Koma will be providing a brief
demonstration of the instrument, followed by a workshop on the
basics of playing this traditional instruments. Members and
non-members alike are welcome to attend this rare opportunity.
